For a school website, I used my old high school. Coral Shores High School is a freshman-senior high school. When the home page loaded I was able to see highlighted events (sports commits', science fair winners, how to keep the school safe, and a menu for quick links.) On the top of the page there was different tabs and I clicked on classes. There was only 6 teacher pages where you could visit their site. I clicked on an old teacher, Ms. Dehart and saw her site which included her name, homework assignments which could be viewed by monthly, announcements, a midterm review, helpful links such as Kahoot!, and files for the whole year of work.
I envision myself using technology within my classroom in many different ways. I really enjoyed seeing the teachers site's on my old high school. This wasn't something they did when I attended the high school. I would have my own site which could be accessed through the school's website. In addition to having my own site, I would include smart boards, Kahoot, power points, blogs, and maybe Twitter participation. Using these forms of technology would help me accomplish my professional responsibilities because I would be teaching my students how to work with technology, not against it.
Visiting the Technology Sandbox was AWESOME! I really enjoyed it and had a great time seeing and using all the technology that is readily available and could be used to implement learning within my classroom. Some technologies that I experienced and could use in the classroom is the smartboard and the Dash robot. For the smartboard, I would implement it by having the students be hands on and be able to draw and interact on the board instead of old fashion where the teacher stands in front of the white board or chalk board and just teaches without any student interaction. This would be a great way for the students to be hands on and start understanding technology as well as word or paint functions. The other form of technology from the Tech Sandbox that I would love to implement into my classroom is Dash the robot. Dash was super cool and was interactive and even had his own personality which is designed to meet the elementary school level which would be great for my 2nd grade classroom. Dash had a way to make you fall in love with him. He was so cute! I feel the students in my class would really enjoy Dash and his personality and being able to basically have another "student" within the classroom that would help the students learn.

Hey again! Your blog posts are very interesting to read and very thorough. I also had a great time at the tech sandbox! I haven't completed my blog 6 yet, but reading your made me eager to complete it!
ReplyDeleteI also want to implement similar forms of technology in my classroom as you. I agree, the tech sandbox was so awesome! I learned a lot about things I never knew about before and I wanted to learn more about.
ReplyDeleteHey! I also used my old high school to examine a teacher's website. Your school seemed to have a more in depth use of the tool which is what I hope to achieve.
ReplyDeleteHi! I love how you went back to your high school to search for teacher pages... I feel like I had the same experience. When I found a school there were only a handful of teacher pages that had content which was disappointing :(
ReplyDeleteHello, Mel! That's so cool that you got to interact with Dash the robot in the Tech Sandbox. I loved seeing that as well. I thought it was so cool to teach students how to code. :)
ReplyDeletewow I really had a great time at the tech sandbox and I agree that the smartboard would be a great system to use and also nice pictures.
